Why Study Medical Imaging?

There is an ever-increasing need for well-qualified professionals in medical imaging. The Math/Science degree program with a concentration in Medical Imaging/Radiography X-ray or Ultrasound provides students with a strong foundation in how the natural world works. Students complete courses in anatomy and physiology, chemistry, physics and mathematics. In the courses students apply mathematical models and the scientific method to solve concrete problems.

People who succeed at medical imaging sciences enjoy working with patients and are comfortable with computers and high-tech equipment.

A medical imaging sciences program educates students in the use of sophisticated equipment and procedures to produce radiographic images (x-rays), computed tomography scans (CTs), and magnetic resonance images (MRIs) and other diagnostic exams.

Careers & Outcomes

Medical Imaging/Radiography X-ray or Ultrasound Concentration can lead to transfer opportunities for further education. Students in this concentration can look forward to career opportunities involving high levels of patient contact, use of interpersonal skills, and many different dynamic environments, like hospitals, clinics, physicians’ offices, imaging centers and industry. Leadership roles as supervisors, administrators, educators and researchers provide avenues for career development.
