Testing
Students who need to take a placement test, challenge exam, Ability to Benefit Test, or make-up a test from a class, can do so in the Student Success Center.
We offer in-person and virtual testing appointments. Students requesting a virtual test appointment are required to take their test in a room by themselves and with their audio and camera on at all times and remain on the zoom with the test proctor until the test is submitted. Students must show a photo ID to the proctor before beginning their test, whether on campus or via zoom.

Columbia-Greene uses multiple measures to determine course placement. Your Accuplacer test scores and prior academic history will be considered in consultation with your advisor for your first semester English and math course registration. You may be exempt from testing based on your prior academic experience, consult with your advisor to see if you may be exempt from placement testing.
Columbia-Greene offers Ability-to-Benefit (ATB) testing for prospective students who need financial aid and do not yet have a United States high school diploma or equivalent. The scores needed to pass an ATB are Accuplacer Reading Comprehension 233, Writing 235, and Arithmetic 230.

You may be permitted to make up a test if missed for extenuating circumstances. To make-up a test, you first need to make the request to your instructor. If your instructor approves, they will submit a make-up test form to the SSC along with a copy of the test.
All make-up testing appointments must be scheduled in advance with at least 24-hour notice. Final exams are not proctored in the SSC.
Make-up testing services are offered at the following start times:
- Monday (in- person): 1:00 p.m., 2:30 p.m.
- Tuesday (via zoom): 11:00 a.m.,12:30 p.m.
- Wednesday (in-person): 9:30 a.m., 11:00 a.m.
- Thursday (in-person): 1:00 p.m., 2:30 p.m.
- Friday (via zoom): 8:30 a.m.,10:00 a.m.
Due to space and monitoring limitations, make-up testing sessions are limited to 5 students at a time. Tests proctored in the SSC cannot exceed 90 minutes.
Are you Kaplan ready? Please complete the C-GCC Kaplan Entrance Exam Request Form to request your Kaplan test. Requests must be submitted no later than four business days before the exam date. You may take the test twice per admission cycle.
