Why Study Construction Technology?
The Construction Technology program at Columbia-Greene Community College is a great way to start your career in the construction industry. The program provides learners with foundational skills about the different components of construction and their real-life applications. Students fill their “toolbox” with skillsets ranging from, but not limited to framing, siding, roofing, basic plumbing and electrical to door and window installation. Students spend at least 75% of their time in a state-of-the-art newly constructed lab working with tools, machinery, and scaffolding.
After completing the certificate students can immediately find employment in many areas of construction. This may include a career for a company in the trades like framing, finish carpentry, siding, roofing plumbing, and electrical. With additional focus in historic preservation, students can contribute to restoration, preservation, and rehab work on homes and landmarks. Students can also seamlessly transfer to SUNY Delhi to continue for a Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management; Design and Building.
