Course Substitutions & Waivers

On occasion, students may need to seek course substitutions or waivers on the basis of a documented disability which inhibits the ability to learn certain subjects. While tutoring and academic adjustments may help some students succeed in these courses, others may be unable to succeed even with the use of these services. In such situations, students may want to consider requesting a substitution or waiver of the course in question. Students should note that, if the course in question is considered to be an essential part of the student’s program or a requirement for certification or licensure, a substitution or waiver may not be granted. Students are also advised that course substitutions or waivers may limit enrollment in certain programs and/or acceptance of transfer credits by other institutions of higher education.

The process for requesting a course substitution or waiver is found in the Academic Standards and Regulations section of the College Catalog.
